djrscally: Morning all; I have a question about sensor drivers. I'm seeing a driver with horizontal size set lower than the configured output width for a particular mode, which seems a bit strange to me - I would expect the output width to be capped at HTS...is that expectation wrong then?
jmondi: <u>djrscally</u>: Hi Dan, it feels a bit strange indeed. The "horizontal size" (or HTS) you refer to is the width of the the pixel array selection that gets "processed" to produce the output frame ?

jmondi: it's a bit hard to guess without knowing the sensor, but in example, I read on an OV sensor datasheet the description of the TIMING_HTS register as "Total horizontal size"
djrscally: It's the ov8865 driver I'm looking at; it is actually called that in the datasheet there yeah
jmondi: and the TIMING_ registers are used to configure the image windowing (I checked two OV datasheet)

djrscally: Yeah; and actually now you mention the image windowing it does have the output size bounded by the horizontal total size box there
jmondi: however in the datasheet I'm looking at the HTS register is not reported in the windowing diagram :/ lovely OV documentation as usual

hverkuil: <u>Inky1003</u>: sorry, I can't help you. It's much too long ago since I last wrestled with the saa7115. I'm sure that there is nothing that you can do manually (well, other than by diving into the driver itself).

hverkuil: em28xx support is pretty decent. But for all these devices there is the same problem that nobody is actively maintaining them.
