roxluI've got an intel cpu which has support for hw-based video encoding but I don't see a `/dev/video*` device which represents the encoder. Is that becuase no driver for it exists yet? [09:44]
jm_hroxlu, what is your device ? [09:46]
roxluI've got an intel i9
I might be wrong, but my thoughts are that if it's supports hw-accel and there is a driver it would show up as one of the /dev/video*
[09:47]
pinchartlroxlu: Intel has the video codec integrated with the GPU, it doesn't show up as a V4L2 device
it uses libva in userspace
[09:53]
roxluYep I know about libva which allows you to use their encoder, but I'm curious why it doesn't show up as a v4l2 device? I would be nice to have one API, but I guess Intel would have to make a driver for it? [09:55]
pinchartlas it's tightly tied to the GPU, it's handled by the GPU driver as far as I know
s/tied to/coupled with/

roxluI see, thanks [10:00]
