dv_is it possible to set new streaming parameters in mem2mem encoders - most notably the framerate - by calling VIDIOC_S_PARM even after the stream was enabled?
or do I have to call VIDIOC_STREAMOFF every time I need to change the framerate?

ndufresnethis is currently not defined in the spec, but I think drivers should allow this
if a driver can't support it, it would have to return EBUSY
in my case, stateless encoders, the framerate is never used by the HW itself, this information is only relevant when producing the SEI/VUI and in the bitrate control algorithm
which reminds me I need to move away from framerate and use accumulate frame duration for rate control, will work better for rtp
(or make it timestamp based, not sure what is the easiest)

gnurouhverkuil mchehab: I see that the MT8183 is in -next (https://git.linuxtv.org/media_stage.git/commit/?id=abd023f55c73ae11913445d0369eaadd1127fe53 and patches below) but not in the main media tree, is there something that still prevents it from being merged?
(sorry I was on a leave and might not have followed everything closely as Tzung-bi sent the latest revision)
[16:03]
ezequielggnurou: hey there!
gnurou: you probably saw my concerns on all the latest MTK proposals.
Using the component API is IMO gonna bite us. In fact, I am not sold in even needing an async framework at all.

***hiroh has quit IRC (Remote host closed the connection) [16:14]
gnurouezequielg: ah, that's not about the component API patchset, it's actually about the older patchset adding MT8183 support. That one does not do anything with the component API. [16:17]
