[09:22] <tomba> pinchartl: Hmm, now that I think about it, the new rpi5 cfe driver has video nodes like "rp1-cfe-fe-image0". And there are two CFE instances... So either local names are fine, or I need to add the cfe address there.

[09:38] <pinchartl> tomba: they're in different media graphs, right ?
[09:38] <tomba> Yes
[10:00] <dv_> ndufresne: something weird about intra refresh in CODA960. it seems that it is not possible to just do intra refresh in the first N frames of a GOP - it just goes on all the time.
[10:00] <dv_> ndufresne: did you observe that?
[10:01] <dv_> I wanted to do periodic IR with 3 intra macroblock rows per frame at the beginning of the GOP to get a fully refreshed frame quickly, and then let the remaining P/B frames be without these rows, but on CODA960, this does not seem to be possible
[10:01] <dv_> either, all P frames have these intra macroblock rows, or none do

[11:40] <ndufresne> dv_: isn't it the norm not to mix intra-refresh and closed GOP's?
[11:40] *** sgruszka has joined #linux-media
[11:41] <ndufresne> dv_: note that I can have a look in the HW manual to see if they explain anything there

[12:09] <dv_> ndufresne: I mean GOP as in the concept
[12:09] <dv_> so, each "GOP" then starts with a number of P frames that have some of their rows full of intra macroblocks
[12:09] <dv_> and, this number of mixed P frames < GOP size

[12:44] <ndufresne> dv_: so, the IP configuration is only two things, intraRefreshNumber and ConsecutiveIntraRefresh
[12:45] <ndufresne> the doc is a bit short, the first controls how many MBs of intra refresh there is per picture, the second is not clear
[12:49] <ndufresne> dv_: ok, they added a diagram in the coda980 manual, not sure I'm allowed to share that document though
[12:54] <ndufresne> dv_: if my understanding is correct, by default it will spread the nunber of intra frefresh macroblocks inside each images, placing intra fresh on the top half for even picture and bottom half for the odd picture, the references will be adapted so that you can fully recover
[12:55] <ndufresne> but there is a consecutive mode, in that case it will fill consecutively, you can use that if you prefer a row model, though it seems the same half picture method is use for referencing
[12:55] <ndufresne> there is no way you can have intrefresh only applied on some frames
[13:08] <dv_> that's what I thought, yeah
[13:08] <dv_> the API I have suggested that the MB number can be adjusted mid-stream, but this does not seem to be the case
[13:09] <dv_> well, then I'll do something different. instead of refreshing the first N pictures with intra macroblock rows of GOP number X, I'll set up the MB number to make sure the image is refreshed by the time GOP number X starts
