ahmadraniri[m]: Pipewire has pipewiresrc and libcamera has libcamerasrc, when I check it via gst-device-monitor-1.0. When I test them using gst-launch-1.0, pipewiresrc is smoother than libcamerasrc (libcamerasrc seems laggy). Is it only me ?
jmondi: ahmadraniri[m]: it would be useful knowing which platform you're testing on
also, pipewire has a libcamera backend, so it's possible that the pipewiresrc gstreamer element uses libcamera as well
ahmadraniri[m]: I test it using my laptop webcam.
 jmondi: I presume it's a uvc camera then ?
also, this is probably more appropriate for #libcamera or #pipewire
anyway, if you can confirm which backend pipewire for video, that would help identify if where the issue is
*which backend pipewire -uses-
ahmadraniri[m]: jmondi: Oh, my bad. I'll move the post.
jmondi: ahmadraniri[m]: no big deal :)

jmassot: pinchartl: Yes I will CC Tomi for the next version, GMSL chips have a lot in common with the FPD ones. It will even be more true if we plan to target a more complex deserializer with 4 inputs and two CSI ports

 pinchartl: jmassot: thanks
also
it seems that the GMSL2 deserializers support a GMSL1 compat mode
we have DT bindings for the MAX9286, a GMSL1 deserializer
and for the RDACM20 and RDACM21, two GMSL1 cameras that include a serializer
did you check if the DT bindings of the RDACM2[01] are compatible with your proposed DT bindings for the GMSL deserializer ?
if we want to support that interoperability, we need DT-level interop
driver interop can come later, it doesn't have to be addressed now
