"only registered users can talk" and yet what I write shows up, even in logs... Anyway (let's hope I won't be kicked...)
Hello everyone. I have peculiar problem with my DVB-T / DVB-T2 tuners that has been haunting me for YEARS. I have tried several tuners with different chipsets (IT9135, DIB0700, RTL2832) and all of them had the same behaviour - continuity errors popping up every few seconds, ultimately corrupting video and sound...
I always thought it was a bad antenna, low quality cables / connectors, interference - replacing them did not fix the issue
Until recently I tried Tvheadend and noticed the "force old status" option that, in theory, uses older DVB API to query signal parameters
And this option FIXED random continuity errors! Finally!
Although I cannot test it with DVB-T (IT9135, DIB0700), because it is not used any more in my country, I can confirm it works with DVB-T2 (Sony CXD2837ER)
My questions are:
1) Why querying frontend status corrupts the stream in the first place? I doubt I am the only person that has this problem, as it happened with multiple tuners on multiple architectures (Raspberry Pi, x86) over multiple kernel versions?
2) What can I do to help fix this issue? Where should this bug be submitted exactly?
3) Extra question: How Tvheadend contributors could know about this workaround? Is this a common knowledge inside the DVB-T / V4L2 community?
