[linux-dvb] WinTV DVB-c - tuning issues PART 3

As far as I understand, this means vdr can't figure out if it's a
dvb-s or dvb-c, or dvb-t.

Then I've used up my own startup script (as shown above) for the modules:

Jul 31 18:04:56 pauli4 kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00
Jul 31 18:04:56 pauli4 kernel: dvb: dvb_init_done called

Jul 31 18:06:22 pauli4 kernel: mon_fail(0): freq=394000000, sr=6900000
...
etc.

and I guess that's a driver issue.

Now, my 2 questions:

1. Is there a remote chance to get this thing to work with a recent
driver? Has anyone recently succeded in installing a DVB-c card?

2. Following earlier recommendations from this mailing list, I've
tried to set it all up with the dvb-20010921.tar.bz2 version (and some
others), which is supposedly the last version to work with a DVB-c tuner.

But not for me (I've applied numerous "patches" to get it to
compile and run, but nevertheless I can't tune in anything so far.
I won´t report on this any further in this posting - it was a real
hassle).

Is there some info about what old driver to use, and if so does it
work with a recent kernel / a newer DVB-c card?
   Anyone's success stories are welcome.

I'm using all this in a productive environment at a broadcasting
station, so there are "time constraints" in setting up a linux DVB-c box
- there are alternatives that I dislike and there are some
technical reasons for using linux, but what can I say?

Anyway, thanks, and I really hope I've missed something ;-)

p.s. Respond to PART1 - the need to split up the posting undermines
the whole concept of threads on the mailing list.
