[linux-dvb] CAM ASTON rev1.05 CI rev1.6 3.5" advance?
Hi
I waited to tell you this because I wanted to collect enough
phenomenology.
about a month ago I tried to change voltage settings (from 5V (suggested
by Hauppauge) to 3.3V) of my CI (rev1.6 3.5") and I got some new
"features":
CAM was detected by any old (at least newer than 07/2002), and also new
(NEWSTRUCT) firmware, once powered on the computer and re-detected at
any module reload without any problem until a power cut (not reboot);
after the power cut I had to wait the next day to detect naturally the
CAM, but, after the usual remove-insert manual operation, I still had
the possibility to reload modules without problems; I thought it was a
matter of temperature (CAM detected the first time if it is cold).
I changed from RedHat8 to RedHat9 2 weeks ago: disaster! No CAM
detection nor driver stability because of remap_page_range difference
from kernel 2.4.18 to 2.4.20.
I installed the old kernel (2.4.18): stable and again CAM working.
Now is going to be hot in Italy: no CAM detection any more, or at least
not any time, neither frequently.
For a while after changing voltage settings I noticed a higher
probability of errors in stream decrypting, but just for 10 days.
I also tried several times the newest version of vdr and related driver
but without results.
I hope this can help someone.
