[linux-dvb] hw_sections=0 vs. -icam firmware
Since the default for hw_sections in the driver is now '0' I'd
like to point out that this will not work together with the '-icam'
version of the firmware (see DVB/driver/av7110/README-firmware).
This is not a bug, but a feature. The -icam firmware needs to scan the
section data for the CA_PMT values in order to control the CAM, but it
can't do this if section filtering is done by the driver (at least that's
my understanding).
So, those who need to use the -icam firmware because their CAM doesn't
work with the default "link layer" firmware, please make sure you load the
driver with hw_sections=1.
Note that this is only relevant for CAM users - if you don't have a CAM,
or your CAM works with the default firmware, you don't need to worry
about this.
@Holger: is this correct? Should we add a note about this to README-firmware?
