[linux-dvb] Re: Tuning problems

There is definitely a problem with signal quality. I think it is
maybe even not the most pronounced in cable or terrestrial but in
satellite because bitrates can be much lower.

On low bit rate transponders with Windows software budget cards
work absolutely perfectly. With linux software there is plenty of
packet loss.

It is very easy to see this e.g. on HotBird 11060V, SR 6510 FEC 5/6
or 11413H SR 6200 FEC 7/8. On high bitrate transponders linux is
prefect.

I tried to check if this tuning problem and changed frequency in small
steps. That did not help much.

So there is some problem somewhere... hopefully it can be solved.

FWIW, I compared the tuner control code of the TT driver (2.16a) against
the Linux sources and they appear to work exactly the same. So the
difference is probably _not_ found in the tuner control.

Instead, take a look at the VES1820 control code for QAM and symbol
rate.
What QAM and symbol rate are the channels you are having problems with?
Here in Germany, I only have 64-QAM and 6900 kbaud channels, and those
work
flawlessly.
