I think this may be because we have the budget Nova-T: in other words it doesn't have the hardware MPEG decoder. Personally I think this is an *advantage*! My reasoning is that I want the video in digital form (as it was transmitted) so I can record it with no loss. Just about any modern CPU can decode MPEG in real time so there's no real need for hardware support these days. I use the fabulous kaxtv program mentioned on this very list.
