From what I've seen, the USB drivers can barily hold it's own, and was quite a 
mess the last time I looked. Besides, what I was asking about was hotplugging 
a frontend, not the card/device as a whole, because that is really the topic 
here.

Can I suggest that dvb-kernel head will be converted to use the kernel i2c 
layer, and that we start working on what you are suggesting for the v4 api?
