I do know that driver writers do not like the SAA7146 much because
of strange behaviour in some situations, but might it be a "real" ;-)
hardware problem?
IIRC there is some special circuitry on the budget boards for
generating some pulses simulating video data, might it be that
there is a timing problem concerning the SYNC line from the
frontend?
