Just to add my input to the mess, I have a WinTV Nova-S (budget without 
CI), and it doesn't initialize the stv0299 frontend on the latest 
dvb-kernel CVS, but it works with 2.6.9 stock drivers.

However, the problem with 2.6.9 stock drivers is that dvbnet, 
specifically telique proxy client doesn't work.
