[vdr] vdr[3330]: ERROR: can't record MPEG1!

What ist the meaning or cause of/behind:

vdr[3330]: ERROR: can't record MPEG1!

It occurs sometimes(once in a week)

But:
Today very often and i have to cold start the PC.
The CPU seems to run in an endless loogp (powerconsuption
was at maximum possible)
The last messages on the screen were
"lirc Bufferoverflow" (did not note the exact letters, assuming
they would be in log file)

The records are unusable.
Only the upper half of the screen changes but
after a while VDR seems to reset it self.
