Just a little thing to discuss here:

Is it just my feeling or is the 2x-speed a bit slower than Play instead of 
faster?

Personally i prefer to set the speed-vector to 1/8,1/4,1/2,1,3,6,12.
Great that it is no set-top box were you had to live with this ;-)
