I mostly agree with you, Klaus.

For me the biggest problem is not that I have to adopt patches to
every new version, but that it's difficult to make the different
patches work together.

So for me VDR lacks most a common API to integrate the different
feature extentions seamless, without appling rejected patch hunks
manualy. IMHO this should be top priority on the TODO list.
