Hi all,
I am trying to get my Galaxis DVB car to work under linux. After a lot
of pain I compiled the Siemens driver for this card and the tuxzap
applications that go with it. I first tried XAWTV and tuxview that afaik
does the same in a different window which gives a nice picture but I am
not able to switch the channels there. When I use tuxzap it comes with
teh error "channel not found". I don't know how to configure it. The
manpages keep me running in circles, I cannot find a Howto or a decent
manual so I skipped it and tried VDR. I made a /video directry which
contains the necessary files. VDR compiles and runs without complains,
not even in /var/log/messages. When I switch the channel I hear the
sound go to a different station, the logging in /var/log/messages says
it switched to channel so and so but I cannot se any picture. I have a
black screen.
I hope someone can help me out here. I have spent about 80 hours to get
it working now and I am getting tired of it. When there is no one who
can explain me what to do, or point me to a manual where I can find out
how to configure things I will give up and return to Windows (which I
hate to do). Or I should start VDR. Choose the desired channel. Close
VDR. Start Xawtv and watch until I wan to see something else. Then stop
Xawtv, choose another channel in VDR etc..... Or is this the way how
things suppose to work? ;-)
I must be crazy. When I bought a windows program that took so much
effort to install, it would have ended in the trashcan a week ago.
