To make it usable just as any other commercial SAT-Receiver. The success
of VDR results from its high usability just with remote control without
any direct access to a functionality of the underlying OS. It hides all
this just like with other home appliances.

... would ... could ...

You can do anything if you invest a lot of time. Nevertheless such a
system would be IMHO not as usable as VDR. Just look at all the
solutions under Windows. All the necessary programs are available but
there is an integrating component missing.

You see the problems yourself. ;-)
Sure, such a concept would be very nice, I would use it on client
computers myself. But to make this running is a lot of effort which I am
not able to spend. As long as there is nobody that is able to spend so
much time as Klaus we can only talk about such a solution. ;-)
