Assuming that the user running vdr and mplayer has r/w permission
to the /dev/ost/* devices and I can imagine one other reason:
Mplayer only uses /dev/ost/video0, if you have set your primary
interface in vdr to something other than this device, mplayer
will fail as vdr has released the wrong device.
