Hello,

I'll buy a new DVD drive soon and am especially looking for one that is
quiet. The German Computer Magazine ct had a test in one of its former
issues where the Sony DDU1621 came off quite well regarding noise. So it
seems to be a good choice.

Before I order such a drive I'd like to know if the drive speed can be
set with hdparm's -E option. Does anybody on this list use that drive
and can confirm this.

Or do you know other silent drives that work reliably? Suggestions are
very welcome!
