Currently, you have to use the '-a' switch with an external ac3 decoder
(ac3dec or a52dec). I played a bit with direct vdr-to-alsa output. This
appears to work, BUT: i could never get my SB Live 5.1! to work correctly
with alsa drivers with all six channels, Center and rear channels are missing
with 'surround5.1' on my setup.
I hope to resurrect the direct alsa support as a vdr-1.1 plugin. In the
meantime is a sligthly outdated highly experimental vdr-1.0.1 patch available
at http://grail.warp10.net/dvd/vdr-alsa.diff.bz2 (apply ontop of dvd or aio
patch)
