You are correct, but if you are doing a full screen menu, like EPG, 
Recording listing or timer setting, that's probably OK.  It should 
probably be a setting somewhere - choose <video background> or <pretty 
mode>.

Think of the TiVO menus - very pretty, but full screen.

So it is possible, but of course, without video simultaneously.
