It comes from the SCART signalling.

It the same as no scart connected, i.e. Display the internal TV Tuner

Means display the input signal on this SCART connector, in widescreen 
16:9 mode

Means display the input signal on this SCART connector, in normal 4:3 mode



What actually happens depends on the shape of your TV screen and it's 
"intelligence".
