[vdr] Slightly OT: PVAstrumento alternative?

Hi all,

I'm currently fixing all my cut recordings with PVAstrumento on one of my
win2000 boxes. However, this is becoming a bit annoying as I would like a
more streamlined approach with scripts.

I regulary encounter reception errors which causes VDR to perform an
emergency exit and so there typically are a few errors in a recording but
PVAstrumento is able to fix it. My recordings are typically over 2GB when
cut.

Do anyone know of any _fully_ working PVAstrumento alternative for x86 Linux
that takes _possibly_ multiple vdr files and generate a single correct
MPEG-2 stream without video/audio sync errors. I do not want to split the
output into CD sized parts, neither do I want the tool to alter the streams
as to make it suitable for (S)VCD. I just want to turn the cut recordings
into correct MPEG-2 streams. I tried toscvd some versions ago but
experienced sync errors. It looks like these bugs are still present?

Given that the new firmware potentially makes it easier to recreate a MPEG-2
stream, is there any activity to change the curring recording format to
further simplify the conversion process?

I'm seriously considering altering some of the tools out there to suit my
needs. Is anyone else interested in this? Besides PVAstrumento, what
conversion tools do people use? Do anyone use tosvcd? Has anyone asked Wiljo
Heinen to make or participate in making a command-line x86 Linux version of
PVAastrumento?

Best regards
 Sven
