[vdr] Noiseless dvd playback

Hello,

I know that noise has been a past thread in the list, but it has been said too
little about reducing noise on dvd drives. Modern drives are quite fast wich
means that they are also quite noisy.
I am looking for a way to slow down a dvd drive in order to make dvd playback
enougth confortable.
When I use a cd media the thing is easy, I just have to use "hdparam -E speed"
or setcd or even an echo to the ide drive /proc/ide/hdx/settings and
everithing works like a charm. The problem is that all those things dont work
when I use dvd media, the speed is never changed.
I have tried now with two dvd drives, a Pionneer and a LG, but without any
luck.

Has anybody know another way to reduce the speed of a dvd drive when using dvd
media?

Regards,

Luis
