[vdr] Low Power PC With Full DVB-S plus powerful streaming server?!

Hi,

I have a full DVB-S card. I want to watch DivX etc coded movies. I have a fairly powerful machine in the basement (Athlon 2400+), and a low power PC  (P166) in the living room with a full DVB-S card. 
Is it possible to use some kind of streaming plugin for VDR on the low power machine, to receive a stream from the basement PC, ie. transcode DiVX to MPEG2 - Stream to VDR - VDR decodes using DVB-S card.

Am I dreaming, or is anybody out there, who has implemented something similar?

Any help/hints/pointers are greatly appreciated.
