Would you mind if I ask you where you want the output (OSD, Live-Video) 
displayed? ;-)

VDR needs at least one output device capable of displaying OSD and 
MPEG2-Video, such as the TV-out of a WinTV Nexus, or a DXR3-Card (which is 
the Creative "Encore" DVD Accelerator).
