Just to clarify:
The slave-mode-patch for mplayer just gives you a progressbar in OSD. You
can savely run any newer mplayer version without this patch in SLAVE mode
- you just won't get this progress bar.

In SLAVE mode, the mplayer-plugin feeds mplayer with commands on the
SDTIN to control mplayer, whereas in traditional mode, mplayer is
controlled via LIRC independantly from VDR/mplayer-plugin.
