Sure it does.
You must have enabled slave mode in the plugin setup too.
Otherwise the plugin won't send any commands to mplayer.

(Enabling slave mode in the setup, adds the option SLAVE to the
mplayer.sh call. mplayer.sh in turn should detect this and add
"-slave -nolirc" to the mplayer call. This way the whole thing is
controlable from within the plugin.)
