I experience the same problem with avi-files that have an AC3 soundtrack. 
After quitting mplayer the sound is static and it can be fixed only by 
playing another avi-file with mplayer that does not have an AC3 
soundtrack. I.e. switching channels with VDR or playing mp3s does not cure 
the problem.

I think I had this same problem with previous DXR3 plugin versions as 
well. Can't be sure since I haven't been watching that many avi-movies 
because my CPU couldn't handle them (now I have a faster CPU).
