The only chance to get sound out off such cards is SPDIF I guess. But 
personally I'll use it as secondary card, so that the broken audio-out won't 
matter.
Or you can use mplayer. Try something like "mplayer -ao oss -vo mpegpes 
<file>" to get the sound out of your soundcard.
