[vdr] Stuttering Sound with dvd-0.3.3

Hi,

I know this has been discussed before but browsing the mailing list archive
of the last couple if months didn't give me any clue...

I'm using vdr-1.2.2 / DVB driver 1.0.0 on an Epia-5000 board with SuSE
Linux 8.0. DVD plugin: dvd-0.3.3 with libdvdnav-0.1.9, libdvdcss-1.2.7,
djbfft-0.76 and a52dec-0.7.4. The board is a rev 1.3 FSC card. I'm
currently using only the PCM sound from the DVB card since I have
no DD equipment so far. Like others who described this before, I get
stuttering sound (and sometimes stuttering DVD replay along with it)
at least on one DVD (Kind Crimson "deja VROOM" - Adrian Lyne's "Lolita"
isn't much better though). The CPU load is well below 50% so that cannot
be the reason. The DVD drive is a "Pioneer DVD-ROM ATAPIModel DVD-K11
1.05". I'm using ide-scsi as suggested by somebody here. Same
happens with standard ATAPI with or without DMA mode 2 (hdparm -d1 -X34).

Any hint is appreciated - what can I do here? Would redirecting the sound
via the soundcard (ALSA via686) help? How? Is vdr-alsa.diff.bz2 the way to
go? Does it apply to vdr-1.2.2?

It's also interesting to note that after stopping DVD replay and going back
to normal TV, sound is muted most of the time (albeit not always). I
need to switch channels once to get sound back. Again, this is with the
DVB card's PCM output not the soundcard.
