Normally, I let the program run under root. I know, that it is a security 
risk, but it is not my development system, so I think I can take it. 

I once tried to run it as user thorsten, which is my personal work account. 
Same result.

I have not locale set

declare -x KDEDIRS="/usr"
declare -x LESS="-R"
declare -x LESSOPEN="|lesspipe.sh %s"
declare -x LOGNAME="root"

LOCALE or LC_ALL would be included in the alphabetical list. I did not set it. 
And the problem appears under X and on a plain text console, so it cant be an 
X environment extra.

Would it help, if I set a specific LOCALE?
