[vdr] Very Important: Need a record of SoftwarePatents DVB-S broadcast by EUin 4languages

Salve vdr-list,

next week there will be the voting about software patents in the EU-parlament.
You can help to make PR against it. We need 3 DVB-S Eutesat recordings
today.

I`m not shure if my mails has going on this list, so please give me feed back.
In case this is the third time I posted this on your list excuse me, I haven`t 
got my posting back and this recording is very important!!!!

Especialy someone with experiances with streamdump could help,
he could dump all languages at the same time. This is working
- how?


I need your support. Next week will be a voting about software patens in the 
European Parlament. For informing and influencing this voting there was a 
conference about software patents in Brussels last wednesday. I tried to 
record this conference. But more professional was a broadcast of the Press 
conference by Europe by Satellite, the news agencie of the EU via DVB on 
Eutelsat.
I tried to motivate people to record this high quality DVB-S stream, but no 
one did it ;(
But there is a second chance to to it, Sunday 21.09.2003 at 12:00h-12:32h

This broadcast is free of charge, so the FSF and other organisation are free 
to store this on their servers. There is already a streaming server with the 
english verson of the press confernce:

WHO CAN HELP WITH THE RECORDING?
Would be great to have the other languages German, French and Orignal one
as well.

AGAIN, THIS MATERIAL OF EUROPE BY SATELLITE IS FRREE OF CHARGE,
this mean we can used it as we like and store it in high and lo video and 
audio bitrate on servers in the interent to make PR for the right voting 
about software patents next week!

Inbetween WE YOU THEM EVERYBODY should try to find sombody with a DVB-S card 
and a LNB to Eutelsat to record this on Sunday for shure with all 4 lagnuages 
and with engough redudance!
Also one ore more Servers are needed to store this recordigs.
Someone who will start convert this to smaler bitrate dirctly on Sunday 12:45 
is also needed.

to look forward what  it would be possibel (beside the mistakes) to do with 
the video:

STATUS:

VIDEO
+ 1,5h video exist 
+ its converted to MPG. 
+ You can find this Draft-video on:
   http://media.ael.be/swpat/
+ if you want to post-product this videos I can give you the adress of a  
  second server which my be faster (when you have a fast connection)
+ THERE IS A REBROADCAST OF THE PRESSCONFERENCE TOMOROW

- 1h in the middle part of the conference dos not exist based on a cammera  
  failure
- This video need a coulor corrections
- THERE IS NO COPY OF THE PRESSCONFERENCE

AUDIO:
+ There exist an analog copy of Original, German, French sound
+  David GLAUDE gave the tapes to a friend for audio2MP3 conferting
    (That's the friend that did the recording of JURI meeting.)
-  Its unkown when this better audio is available
- This timing must be cleard with one FTP Admin (AEL ?) and the 
   postproductors!


POSTPRODUCTION:
There three possible Post-Productors:
Jonas Maebe (offerd by his sister - but her hasn`t an internet connection(?))
Jacek Gancarson (slower internet connection)

  back)

SERVERS:
+ media.ael.be could store the finished videos
- But which format?
- How to stream the videos?

The Greens are going to prepare a reader for Monday and they would like to 
have video on their webpages of the conference, especial with speach of 
Daniel Cohn-Bendit. Till Palme has contacted me:

Does somebody has a good contact to the greens in BXL, (also webmaster) to 
clear this over the weekend - how the file for them should look like?

IDEAS FOR CUTTING:
for aktiv people would be interesting to see the whole recording, but for 
political influencing some short clips would be better.

Do you have ideas what to stress with this material?

Would we be able to produce spots with speakers?


Important for me was that it`s it was impressive how mid-size companies are in 
danger of this pantens and how active they are (more than just FSF) and
the Paradoxon of the interest for free markets of small companies and the 
interest of close the market of big one -- like the WTO-conference ;)


PRESSCONFERENCE REBROADCAST BY EBS:
I still unsccessfully by searching somebody to record it digitaly ;(
I will mail to the Linux-dvb mailing lists.
But a converting of these recordings in 4 languages and diffent formats/sizes
are needed. 
This should be cleard who when will converted this and publish it tomorows
afternoon!
