It really shouldn't matter if the card is in use or how often
channels are switched or whether it is tuned to an actual channel
or not. The driver should be stable enough to handle this in any
situation. It can't be the task of an application to "pamper" the
driver in order to keep things stable.

So I strongly believe that this problem should really be fixed in the
driver!

The EPG scan runs all the time while the secondary card is not used.
