For SD, it's probably not too bad. HDTV yes.

Some of the mini-itx's from VIA have mpeg decoders. 
http://www.linitx.org has a lot of forums. Be sure to read
carefully about which board does what, what drivers etc.

Especially, be careful about SD and HD.

Also there are some video cards that do mpeg decoding and tv out.
Matrox comes to mind.

Also, just saw :

No word on it working with Linux, despite it using Linux
internally.

Just because people work on a Linux driver, it doesn't mean
it is supported, nor that it works well in all cases. More often
it's a case of needing it, and people helping each out with testing
and debugging.
