Hello ,
following the thread "Suggestions for tv output" , I was wondering if I
anyone has ever tried the following chain :
VDR -> streamdev as DVB source -> xine with epia-m driver as decoder ->
framebuffer as output device -> TV
Even simpler: you can use
VDR -> softdevice plugin -> framebuffer + TVout or DVI.
The DirectFB driver for the graphics chipset used on the EPIA boards
made good progress thanks to Andis efforts last weeks, check out the
latest DirectFB CVS on http://www.directfb.org/.
Moreover one could use Xine to render a nicer OSD as there a no hardware
limitations to OSD rendering then like with a ff card.
Then you get a true PiP mode not only displaying the I-frames and
DVB-subtitles without OSD limitations for free.
Also unlimited colors on the OSD layers, HDTV, DivX and MPEG decoder
support - well, as soon the av711x related hardcoded limits on the
palette and resoltion are removed from the VDR core and the av711x
backend gets a plugin.
