[vdr] Re: How to debug recordings menu problems

Hello there,

I'll try to get up all answers I got in this message:

I'm using an EXT3 partition because of data losses with ReiserFS in the
past.
I tried XFS a long time ago and had good expiriences, but dropped it 'cause
of problems during the new installation in cause of system crashes.

With EXT3 I recognized speed problems which vanished after exchange of my
harddisk.
Now I'm using a Maxtor 80GB Disk with 8MB Buffer - and DMA enabled. Should
be fast enough - even during playback and recording at same time.

I tried just now to increase the value of the -w parameter but can't tell
whether it worked for now.

The crashes are happening often after new recordings are done or during
recording process.
Also it happens that - with the DVD changing plugin (the one for ISO
images) - after adding a new image VDR is crashing, too.

The partition is about 75 GB space and contains some backup data in
addition to my recordings. Perhaps should try to remove all files which have
nothing to do with recordings.

If it would be possible to improve the code which is searching the disc, or
to patch my installation it would be very great - perhaps I could get the
code dropped by SuSE?
