You could download the source (via apt-get) and the combined patch [1] and
drop it in in place of most of debian/patches/opt-20_subtitles.dpatch (keep
everything up to and including the @DPATCH@ line) then rebuild the package.
I'll drop that patch in now, although I don't currently plan to upload new
.debs unless they're for 1.3.14 or I've added some bugfix patches.
