Ahhh...I had a go at compiling it with vdr-1.3.15 but it failed (anyone
patched it?) and didn't really bother because it looked like it wouldn't
work with a dxr3!

Maybe I'll give it another go...

Did you have to edit the plugin at all to get it to work with a dxr3?
