Thanks, I noticed it too a little while ago. This is a good idea to use UIO driver initiate a new device driver but I don't know if it will be useful for the v4l2 library. The main aim of the v4l2 library is to have in userspace the complex decompression algorithms.

In a short term, I proposed to implement a helper daemon that would use this library and provide it to the applications via an extended v4l2 driver. But in a long term, I hope application will access the base v4l2 driver through the v4l2 library directly. I will write something about that on the wiki to clarify the present and future.
