CAM module doesn't work on Nexus and CI module

Hello list, I'm trying to get my CAM working on vdr 1.3.22 and vdr 1.2.6, with only the vdr-remote-0.3.3 plugin (http://endriss.escape.bei.t-online.de/vdr) enabled. I've got a Hauppauge CI module (http://213.221.87.83/pages/products/data_ci-modul.html) connected to the second Hauppauge Nexus card (http://213.221.87.83/pages/products/data_nexus-s.html) Accoording to the Wiki (http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Supported_CAM_modules) this configuration should support all cam's. I've tried 3 different CAM's, without success. The CAM's get hot, so they've got power, but further no results. When I use the Setup menu in vdr (both versions), I can reset the CAM's, the log shows that that is done, but when I triy to access the CAM menu, vdr report "Can't acces CAM menu". The question is : What should I see in the log and on screen when I got a working CAM ? Best regards, ocmer

trying to find causes for high cpu usage

I added some debug output for every 1000th call to poll() in cSectionHandler::Action At 23:58 a recording started. Since then the thread for my 2nd device (first and primary is Nexus-S FF, 2nd is TT PCI Budget) also polls much more even after the recording finished. Why is there so much activity going on for the 2nd device even when it is no longer needed? Is there any way to tell vdr that no output is needed such that vdr can stop processing the data stream of the first device too? Why does the first device call poll() twice as much as the second one? keymacros strange behaviour

Hello, I have defined in Keymacros.conf: ... User2 Commands 1 BACK ... Executing this key opens the Menu window ( No matter if pressing the key or sending HITK user2 ) Otherwise executing it via SVDRP: HITK Commands HITK 1 HITK BACK works as expected ( Comand window opens , CD gets ejected ( Menu No 1 ) and BACK does nothing. when I define: ... MP3-plugin problems with slow cpu

I was complaining earlier mp3-plugin is unstable with dxr3. However, now I have FF card on other system, and similar unstability there also. Both systems are with splow cpu. DXR3 is on P350, and now testing with P266. Everything works fine, but then after 5-500 minutes remote stops working, and 5-60 seconds after that music stops playing. Sometimes vdr restarts (with watchdog), sometimes not. On dxr3 system I have tested only with vdr-1.3.23 (http://www.e-tobi.net/vdrdevel/sarge/experimental/ multipatch) On FF+P266 system I tested: - vdr-1.3.23 * http://www.e-tobi.net/vdrdevel/sarge/experimental/ multipatch * http://www.e-tobi.net/vdrdevel/sarge/experimental/ standard - vdr-1.3.17 * http://www.e-tobi.net/vdrdevel/sarge/testing/ multipatch I run mp3 plugin showing track title & progressbar. Normally I have background scanner running, but I had one crash also without it. I suppose recording during listening music makes things worse. I suppose this might be possible to fix, since system is responsive and working, but on some point it stops working totally. Anybody else similar experiences? -- M. Recording HD with full featured device

Hi, I was just wondering whether there is any sort of workaround if I want to record (but not view or replay) HD recording on a VDR setup. I use a full featured DVB-S device for output and it crashes if a HD stream is passed to it. I would like to use the HD recording for transcoding to xvid and and I think it would be great if I could take advantage of my VDR box for scheduling and recording rather than having to build a second box (or buy another DVB-T card) especially since the HD stream is already available to VDR on the same frequency while I'm watching and/or recording the SD stream. Would it be possible to mark channels as HD in the Channels menu and then have an option to not send those channels or their recordings to the output device? It would seem like a relatively easy patch but I'm not confident in my ability to make it myself. Regards, Michal

transfron compile error

VDR sounds through a soundcard

Hi, For some reason all the sounds from my Hauppauge DVB-C card died (both from the stereo plug and the J2 connector). The card is very likely broken. It seems that the card isn't produced anymore, so it might be really hard to replace it. Is there any relatively easy way of getting the sounds out of a soundcard instead of the DVB-card? I have a spare Trust 514DX which is Alsa compatible. Any ideas? Thanks beforehand, Jarkko

[Announce] VDR-Maintainance-Patch f. 1.3.23

Hello everyone, I have created a "maintainance-patch", which does daily housekeeping-tasks at a predefined time. This tasks are: - automatic calling of noad for new recordings - cut all recordings, marked as ready before Till now, pressing '2' in a recording starts the cutting immediately. Now, you have the possibility to press '3' and mark this recording as "ready for cutting". Cutting is then done during the next maintainance run. Pressing '3' again removes the ready mark. You can see the current status of a recording in the Recordings overview. Recordings marked for cutting are indicated with a "+"-sign. In the Settings-Menu you can setup the different features in the new "Maintainance"-submenu. hi i know HD recording is rather new, but it renders the calculation of the "Recordings time left" a little bit useless?! i think we need a second calculation for HD material. just an idea... manuel.

1.3.22: memory leaks

Hi, while investigating VDR with valgrind and other memory tracing tools, I found two places where memory leaks. First is in dvbplayer.c, where the Action() code builds a frame from the replayed file (readFrame). If the ringbuffer is already full, this frame cannot be put immediately. If Empty() is called in such a situation, the premade frame is lost.
