CAM initialization works only for unencrypted broadcast stations

Hi, I´m new in that vdr area. This is my system: - Suse 9.0 Professional - VDR version 1.3.17 - dvb.2004-12-26 - Technotrend DVB-S 1.5 Premium - Technotrend DVB-T Budget 1.3 - Technotrend CI Interface PCI - CryptoWorks CAM My problem: My dish antenna points to following satellite : Türksat 42.0 East. On this satellite only unencrypted broadcast stations are available. When I start my vdr the CryptoWorks CAM is initialized. #################### May 15 17:49:28 linux vdr[1405]: CAM: CryptoWorks, 01, D000, 0000 May 15 17:49:32 linux vdr[1402]: CAM: Menu - #################### Now I changed the direction of my dish antenna to "Eutelsat W3A at 7.0°East". Here are only encrypted broadcast stations available. When I start my vdr the CryptoWorks CAM is not initialized and I see following error if I try to open CAM Menu via OSD: #################### May 15 19:20:13 linux vdr[1911]: ERROR: CAM: Read failed: slot 0, tcid 1 May 15 23:21:21 linux vdr[11667]: ERROR: Can't open CAM menu! #################### My assumption: Seeming CAM initialization works only if a signal of a unencrypted broadcast station is received as described in step one above. What should I do to initialize also my CAM module for encrypted broadcast stations as described in step 2 ??? This is very tricky. I would be very happy if someone could help me. RFC: Play button behaviour

Small(ish) change to VDR would be nice. When replaying a recording or using other plugin to playback something and user stops the playback then wants to resume the playback it would be nice just to press Play to continue from last recording/file. This would be nice feature when something interrupts the playback and user wants to go back to previously played recording/file. Br, Pasi

Hello list! I'm trying to use vdr with a Nova-t card not depending on softdevice plugin, I want to use a full-featured nexus-s to do mpeg encoder work. Radio in analogtv plugin

I am triying to make analogtv plugin with a pvr-350 to work with analog radio. I must set CBR for the radio work properly. When I play a radio recording program the time that appear in vdr is 1/4 of the real time. Any ideas? Thanks. Jose Alberto

Can't load the firmware on my Hauppauge Nova-T cards under Gentoo 2005

Anyone seen these errors? Apologies for cross-posting - I'll post this on the Gentoo lists as well. I can't load the firmware on my Hauppauge Nova-T cards under Gentoo 2005, using Gentoo-De ebuilds. This is weird as I have used these cards successfully under Fedora core 3 with no problems. The firmware errors occur with either the firmware that comes with the linuxtv-dvb drivers, the extract of the latest ones using get_dvb_firmware script or using a manual conversion of ttlcdacc.dll from the driver disk supplied with the cards. The logs seem to indicate it is finding the firmware just can't use it. Also weird is this that all the required modules seem to load OK ?? Have suplied /var/log/messages, lspci, lsmod, dmesg and the output of running vdr manually from the command line. When running it manually it loads the OSD fine and you can change settings and navigate with no problems. Once it even loaded the firmware and tuned to the strongest channel - though just the once. Perhaps this is a timeout issue?? Any ideas? Storing apid names in recordings

Hi, I'm using VDR 1.3.24 and if I replay a recording and then press the "Audio" key I only get a list containing for example "1" and "33". In LiveTV mode the list reads "deutsch" and "dolby digital". It would be nice if this could also be the case in replay mode. Or do I miss something? Regards, Andreas

Hallo Klaus, Just wanted to bring this back into Memory - posted first time 10.02.2005. There is one small wish that I have. At the moment the last Audio Menu setting is stored so that if one used DD the last time it will also be used next time. Would it be possible to have a seperate setting for Replay ? What I mean. At the moment the last setting if DD was used or not is stored and reused - that is very nice :) But at the moment I would like to defaultly have no DD when watching Live as switch-times are better. In Replay I would really like to have DD as default as it is a lot nicer :) So how about seperating this "keep last setting" between LiveAC3 and Replay ? So that with the Audio Menu you can setup DD while replaying and it then will be used everytime you replay something with DD sound. And if you setup no DD in Live viewing VDR would not used DD while live viewing :) or the other way around if someone els would like that ... It could even be stored in the current setup.conf setting like this : Value of CurrentDolby 0 No Dolbydigital 1 LiveAC3 and Replay 2 LiveAC3 only 3 Replay only (Maybe bitstreamout needs some more !? At least Werner posted that in an answer) This would really be a nice feature :) I hope it is clear what I mean ... Thanks for VDR - a good program is getting even better with every release. Together with the Driver/Firmware bugfixes VDR 1.3.x is running more stable than 1.2.x ever did. Starting VDR at reboot

Where should I put commands to start VDR at boot. Putting them in /etc/rc.boot is no good because lircd has not started yet. VDR needs to be the last thing to start at bootup.

VDR-1.3.24: OSD speedup

Hi, the attached patch speeds up OSD display a little bit. I think it's wrong to tell cStatus that for example 2700 channel entries will be displayed when actually only 16 entries fit on screen. The other sections speed up paging beyond the first respectively last item (similarly to single line scrolling). Further ideas to reduce CPU load while scrolling: - Flush OSD after each scroll: will slow down scrolling and therefore most likely reduce CPU load. - Snoop ahead remote commands and do N scrolls at once, skipping N-1 paint operations. - Paint line by line and abort as soon as further remote commands arrive, to start over again. This menu can also be extended with entries in the file epgsearchdirs.conf - usage of variables like "%Genre%" or "%Category% in the directory entry of a search timer. These are replaced with the current extended EPG info when a timer is created. - key '0' in search menu now toggles the flag 'use as search timer' - fixed compilation for vdr < 1.3.18 (thanks to TomG@vdrportal) - updated script rememberevent.sh (thanks to Ronny Kornexl for complete rewrite and extensions) - added script epg2master-timer.sh for the commands menu, that adds an event to master-timer, thanks to the author Christian Jacobsen / Viking (vdrportal) - some changes to compile with bigpatch - removed font patch for progressbar, since runtime patch seems to work fine - added a script timerrep.sh to search the repeats of a timer from timer menu (requires the timercmds.conf-patch from Gerhard Steiner, see dir patches) - updated/rearranged README(.DE) and added also a MANUAL (only english) for detailed info about some topics, since README gets too big. - Added a description of the format of epgsearch.conf to MANUAL - fixed a bug with buttons display in search timer edit menu - a special thanks to Mike Constabel (vejoun@vdrportal) for great beta testing and suggestions, and to Rolf Ahrenberg for finnish translation. What is it about? EPG-Search can be used as a replacement for the default schedules menu entry. It looks like the standard schedules menu, but adds some additional functions: - Commands for EPG entries with 5 built-in commands like 'show repeats', 'create search'. One can add own commands for other needs, like adding a VDRAdmin auto-timer. - Add up to 4 user-defined times to 'now' and 'next' - Searching the EPG: Create reusable queries, which can also be used as 'search timers'. - Search timers: Search for broadcasts in the background and add a timer if one matches (similar to VDRAdmin's auto-timers) or simply make an annoucement about it via OSD - Progress bar in 'What's on now' and 'What's on next' - Shift the time displayed by keypress, e.g. 'What's on now' + 30 minutes - Start menu can be setup between 'Schedule' or 'What's on now' - background check for timer conflicts (requires a recent timeline plugin) - detailed epg menu (summary) allows jumping to the next/previous event - support for extended EPG info for search timers Works only for vdr-1.3.x (x>=7).
