vdr-xine : extenal commands not allowed!

hello, - the idea : i try to control a dvb-t card with vdr from another computer. server : desktop with a hauppauge dvb-t card (software decoding) client : laptop with 100 mbit card. both suse 9.3, kernel 2.6.11.4, dvb driver included, firewall disabled during tests. vdr-1.2.6-88 vdr-plugins-0.5-87 kvdr-0.62-5 - driver test : the card is working fine if i launch kaffeine (xine frontend) with direct access to the dvb card driver, without using vdr. - vdr setup : there's no hard decoder on the card, so i've setup vdr to use xine plugin with "-r" option to allow remote control. i don't know if this remote control is related to "svdrphosts.conf", but i have 127.0.0.1 and 0.0.0.0/0 UNcommented in this file ... - running : once vdr is launched (runvdr or rcvdr) with xine plugin, i try to connect from the same computer with : 1. "kvdr -x" : nothing happens. 2. "xineplayer myservername" xineplayer included with vdr-plugins. vdr-xine log says : external connecting external connected external commands not allowed! what have i done wrong ? any ideas ? most info i can find is in german, and i don't speak german at all. i've been trying for a long time now and i'm lost. thanks for your help, paul.

Remote control and touch /video/.update

Hi, When i touch /video/.update vdr scan /video and during this scan, 15 or 20 seconds for me, the remote control does not respond any more. This problem which is particularly tedious when vdr is starting ... -- Guy Roussin

vdr slowness when browsing channels

Hi, I notice that vdr is slow when i try to quickly browse channels. it eats around 18-20% of the cpu (atlon1200) when i hold left or right key when browsing channels (vdr 1.3.27 vanilla - classic skin) . With text2skin (1.0) and Enigma, it eats around 40-50% of the cpu and browsing channels is very very slow ... Note: cat channels.conf | wc -l --> 2600 lines Thank you. Updating the list of recordings

Hello, list! Since VDR version 1.3.11 (according to HISTORY), the list of recordings is not updated automatically, so the asterisk for "you have already watched this (or at least opened it)" is not updated either. Is there other way to update that information than a cron job touching .update every minute or so? Or should this be considered to be a bug? Running VDR 1.3.27. UPDATED: vdr-1.3.28-dvbplayer.patch (highly recommended for soft devices)

Hi, as mentioned earlier, I've released an updated dvbplayer patch for VDR-1.3.28. It is highly recommended for users of soft devices like vdr-xine who want to edit cutting marks or use trickspeed replay of recordings taken prior to the introduction of cVideoRepacker (i. e. VDR < 1.3.26). The patch now handles MPEG1 recordings too, although this functionality was not explicitely tested. In the case that it shouldn't work for such recordings, please drop me a line, so that I can fix it. [PATCH] obey Power key while replaying a recording

Hi all, Klaus responded to my private message about the Power key being ignored while playing back a recording. He suggested to add a cControl::Shutdown() call to the kPower handler. I did that, and the attached patch (against vdr-1.3.27) works for me. I'm not sure if it is necessary to move the assignments before the cControl::Shutdown() call, but I thought it would be safer that way. Marko

cSkinSTTNGDisplayMenu::SetButtons overwrites the message set via SetMessage

As the subject says. ST:TNG is the only skin where this happens, since it shares the same line for both things. And you can see the "remains" of the message in the space between each button. Maybe I'm wrong, but I shouldn't be forced to stop calling SetButtons if there's a message active (at least if I repeatedly[*] call SetButtons after calling SetMessage it works fine with every other skin). [*] I change the help at each screen refresh based on the menu selection, while I only need to show a message from time to time.
