Question about Repacker in vdr-1.3.32

When I watch the syslog as vdr is running, sometimes I start to see messages about cAudioRepacker dropping packets over and over. Eventually this can also lead to the buffer filling up and a "clearing transfer buffer to avoid overflows" occurs to prevent VDR from crashing. Now, this is not at the beginning of a channel change, as I can see how that would occur up initial tuning. cAudioRepacker will just start dropping data after being tuned for a while. On a side note, I never see this happen with cVideoRepacker (only the audio). So my question is, how does cAudioRepacker and cVideoRepacker affect those users with only FF cards? Is cAudioRepacker/cVideoRepacker only useful for fixing packets sent to softdevices, such as Xine? Best Regards,

Hi, I'm a relatively new user to vdr and xine, and i've noticed when watching football or scenes with high action that the playpack is not smooth. It'snot a tearing issue, and I can get used toit,but when people comeover they have commented on the stuttering. The videodoes not pause, its morelike a shutter is closing and openeing kind of thing. I think its because i'm running PAL, and fidixfb or xine is probably outputting 25fps instead of 50. Err.. Any tips on how totweak this output? Here is the command I use to launch xine: --- /usr/local/bin/fbxine --stdctl -V vidixfb -A oss --no-lirc --post=expand:centre_cut_out_mode=1,black_bottom=2 --post=vdr -D vdr://tmp/vdr-xine/stream#demux:mpeg_pes --- Eagerly awaiting a reply ;-) Mick

Using two video sources - DVB & non-DVB-USB

Hi. I'm using a Hauppauge Nova-T card which only has a single tuner module, so when I need to simultaneously record channels on different transponders I can't. I've just bought a el-cheapo Hauppauge USB-LIVE widget which has an s- video and RCA connector for video, which I've connected to a VCR which I'll use as a tuner. How can I use this under VDR? 1) The audio stream is not integrated into the USB-LIVE, so I'll need to use the soundcard from the VDR box. How do I tie in the audio and video? 2) How should this USB thing be configured under VDR? It's not a DVB adapter. Is there a Handycam plugin or something that I can use? 3) Assuming I can get the adapter working, can recordings be scheduled via a non DVB adapter under vdr? What I'd like to do is, on the rare occasion when I need to record something via the USB-LIVE I'll set the VCR to the right channel and let VDR schedule the capture. Has anyone done this? compiler error with streamdev plugin

Hi, This would be my wishlist on which I'm willing to contribute myself, and would like to know your opinions, including Ralf's. I would investigate myself how to accomplish them (right now I don't know exactly how to do them), unless there already are known intentions (or at least know-how) by others in these directions: - making audio tracks one wants to keep in every recording selectable (some prefer AC3 tracks, some don't) per recording, and also giving proper language ID to the resulting DVD audio track (if availabele from the VDR recording. - fixing the character encoding context in imlib2 text rendering of the recording information text for non-latin1. - implement one more special "store mode" which actually just generates a script with the proper parameters and calls to vdrburn.sh (maybe parts of the log file) to be able to run it by hand if problems occured. Maybe some options to preserve the temporary files, sometimes if for example only generating the menues have gone wrong, it's not necessary to start over with demuxing/cutting, requanting and muxing again, but only continue from the menu and the author the DVD again. The generating of this script could also be done in other store modes, and the script would be placed in the ISO folder... Comments? Technical suggestions? [PATCH] burn-0.0.6i author only + romanian i18n + requant fix from 0.0.6h

Hello, this is a patch against vdr-burn-0.0.6i from http://gentoo.fh-luh.de/files/vdrplugin-burn/ which seems to be tha latest version of the plugin. @Ralf: Is it this one what you're maintaining at the moment? The patch depends on the one I posted yesterday for VDR itself, the ExchangeChars function from vdr/recording.c, I hope that Klaus will include it in his next release. What this patch does: 1. Introduces a new "store mode" called "Author only", useful if you'd like to skip growisofs and the burning itself (for example, if the VDR machine has no DVD burner, but you'd like to burn the DVD structure via network on another machine, in windows for example and also want to see the final result before burning, without having to mount the ISO). The DVDAUTHOR folder from the temporary folder given as a parameter to the plugin is moved into the folder specified for ISO images, and renamed to the DVD title specified in the plugin menu, which could be a remoteely mounted one. This way, the DVD structure is not wiped out after exiting VDR. 2. romanian i18n. 3. The known bug about messed up multiple recordings when requanting unfortunately wasn't cured with this 0.0.6i version, like stated in it's readme file, so I integrated the fix for 0.0.6h from the vdr-portal.de thread http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=37768 in this patch, too. 4. I also adjusted the correction factor for requanting even more, to 1.04, it seems to come even closer to the maximum DVD size without getting too big. Other option is that stream-server 'captures' data stream before DECSA is run to it, so it cannot sync & stream the MPEG data. First try free HD channels on Astra 19.2E to see if those works. After that you may add complexity to your setup like CAM modules. For watching C MORE HD you probably need FFDECSA software (if hardware DECSA cannot do the job or stream-server cannot see decrypted traffic), so your main CPU decrypts the stream. Then you need card reader ("Phoenix interface") to read your Canal+ card, and a vdr-sc and vdr-softdevice / vdr-xine / vdr-stream-server. On Linux side then you need at least a 3GHz machine to do FFDECSA, HD decode and proper deinterlace for video signal. Then you need a decent VGA adapter to support 2k x 2k overlays, minimum AGP 4x etc. For audio output a SPDIF output from mainboard / soundcard. But this is not a report of success story watching C MORE HD on a VDR, just a guess what probably needs to be done. For me plain free to view HD channels a budget DVB-S and vdr-xine + vdr-streamdev works fine for DVI-out and projector. And also VLC / WMP plays streams nicely on windows side. Best regards, Jori
