Hi, I wrote a patch to Steve Toth hvr3000 repository, so my FlyDVB Trio can use multiple frontend. So I get: /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/demux1 /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr1 /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend1 /dev/dvb/adapter0/net0 /dev/dvb/adapter0/net1 The bus of the two frontend is shared, isn't possible to get access to both frontend simultaneously, so I get an -EBUSY error by trying accessing frontend1 if frontend0 is in use. VDR doesn't support yet the second frontend, and it try to get exclusive access on both frontend on start, so the second frontend is inusabile. Vdr should probe for multiple frontend at start, and access frontend only on channel change. Please can someone give me an help to wrote a patch for this issue? Best Regards, Eddi

In times where we have such really nice plugins like softdevice and streamdev, we no longer need real MPEG2 or DVB hardware in a VDR system. As i want to use my FreeBSD systems to watch TV or play VDR recordings i decided to give porting VDR to FreeBSD a try. Attached you can find the results. In short terms: It simply works! The only missing feature right now is, starting VDR as root and switching to another user (-u command line option). For now it is possible to watch any recording made by a VDR with real hardware if the video directory is directly accessible over the network (mountable by the client) or the use the streamdev plugin to stream VDR to VDR. All tests where done using a Linux system with two FF-DVB-S devices, streamdev-server plugin and NFS exported video directory plus a wired and a wireless FreeBSD-7.0 client running VDR with streamdev-client and softdevice plugin. As far as i could test the whole setup until now, everything works the same way on FreeBSD as it does under Linux and i now have real channel-hopping. The patches are made in a way that a patched VDR will still compile under Linux. Every modification, to the source or to the Makefiles is ifdef'd out. So unless you say you want to compile VDR for FreeBSD you have an unmodified version of source. BBC HD Problems

Hi, There appears to have been some changes made recently to BBCHD on 28.2E: - BBCHD:BBC:10847:vC56M2O35S0:S28.2E:22000:2328:2330=NAR;2329=eng:2331:0:6940 :2:2050:0 It is now not watchable with a reel eHD card - no audio and stuttering video. The Reel support people are saying this is possibly because they have started using AAC audio which is not supported by VDR. Is anyone else having problems with this and FFMPEG or CoreAVC via xine or is it still fine? Thanks, Morfsta

Small VDR-streamdev patch for Popcorn Hour NMT

Hi, directly Popcorn cannot stream from vdr-streamdev because streamdev server does not provide necessary info by default. I used 0.3.4 as a basis - I believe this patch would work for 0.4 without modification. With this patch I've been able to stream SD stuff. Need more investigating for HD H.264 stuff, I can hear sound but no picture. More info about NMT (Networked media tank) devices etc: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page What is done on this patch: - Add remote control shortcuts (red, green, yellow and blue) to select wanted stream format (Yellow worked for me with PCH) - Added automated audio track selection to default URL (+1) - Added suffix for URL (TS w/ "C-123-123-123.ts or S-12-123-123.ts", ".ps", ".vdr" for PES and ".mpeg" for ES, extern no suffix) - Added 5000000 bytes prebuf-tag to shorten prebuffer time - Added remove control shortcut for selecting channels (channel number < 1000) - Added "vod" tag for PCH to recognize "video-on-demand" These small enhancements are inside anchor tag and they do not affect other browsers, just MSP-compatible browsers - so in theory this patch could be built-in for streamdev. But naturally my vision is to have own GUI for MSP. But first need to verify that streaming works - and it does. Just some HD fix is needed. On PCH menu set Webservices URL: http://[your.VDR]:3000/PES/all.html (This should be the default - you can change formats easily with RGYB buttons) Actual web page is not beautiful compared what you can do with MSP plugins - but this is a start. EPG for Hotbird / russian programmes

Hi, now that my VDR works fine with 2 satellites thanks to the help of some kind folks here and the SourceCaps patch (did I mention it should be in the mainstream VDR?) I have now a couple of FTA programmes in russian language for my better half :-) The only problem is, none of these programmes carry any EPG information. The schedules are available on the web sites, mostly. Has somebody written a plugin that retrieves the schedules and creates proper EPG data from them? I might but not too soon... I understand this task can be a pain in <pick your favourite body part> because people use no SOA interfaces. TBNRussia provides an Excel file (yuck). TIA! -- Reader, suppose you were an idiot. Regression from a fix in VDR 1.4.1: Needless blocking of CAM DVB cards

Hiho, I recently upgraded to VDR from 1.4 to 1.6.0 and sadly there is a regression from a bug which was fixed in VDR 1.4.1. The problem is described (with patches) in this thread: http://www.linuxtv.org/pipermail/vdr/2006-August/010312.html The changelog entry of the fix: 2006-08-13: Version 1.4.1-4 - Changed the way a device is selected for receiving in order to keep devices with CAMs better available, even if this means recording on the primary device (reported by Jörn Reder; thanks to Anssi Hannula for improving handling Transfer Mode devices in this). With vdr 1.4 this worked perfectly, now with 1.6 VDR always prefers my Budget CI card for recordings so I can't view any Pay TV when a recording is active.
