Check for updates of present event

Hi, I want to check for updates on the present events in the schedule. I was checking "Schedule->Modified > lastModified", where lastModified is the timestamp when I checked it last time. However, every time I do the check, it was modified, even if there's no obvious change. So, how do I check if the present event (currently running event) was modified, i.e. the current event was replaced by the next event or any detail of this event has been changed? Additionally, I'd like to know, if there equivalent way to do such a check on the channels list as Channels.Modified() is reset after the call. I have never detected a channel list change though syslog states some automatic changes. Thanks for any kind of help! Denis

channels.conf overwritten when installing vdr 1.7.30

Dear all, I just upgraded vdr from 1.7.29 to 1.7.31. After that I noticed that I lost my channels.conf as it was overwritten by "make install". :-( A closer look to the changes made in 1.7.30 revealed that install-conf target in the Makefile no longer checks if the CONFDIR already exists. In previous version *.conf-files where only installed once (when the CONFDIR just was created). Was this change made by intention? -- Best Regards, Joachim.

Jittering while playing recording with xinelibout

Hi list, I am trying to convert .vob to .ts with different tools. Every new generated .ts file plays fine with vlc. While playing this converted files in xinelibout, I can see everytime jittering. (vdr-1.7.31/xinelibout with latest git) Sample: http://www.russle.net/vomp/misc/00001.ts.gz At the moment I do not know, whats causing this. Can anybody confirm this? Any Ideas? Alex

Polish EPG problems

Hi, I've been using vdr for very long time (since 1.2.1 afair), but the polish epg problem is unfortunately still here in recent versions. I made a deep analysis of the problem and here are the details. Polish broadcasters are ignorants regarding dvb standards! It's very sad but it's true :( Of course e-mails to them about it doesn't give an any effect... There are two kind of problems with polish providers on HotBird 13E: First problem is that similar to one handled by CharsetOverride: Part of the channels are encoded in ISO-8859-2 while not announce that, this can be handled with VDR_CHARSET_OVERRIDE correctly. The other part cannot be currently handled correctly in vdr without patching: Some channels are using ISO6937 while announcing ISO-8859-5! (sic!) There are also providers which are respecting standards, but the above bad cases are for two main polish digital platforms, so it would be great if vdr finally would handle it correctly. Even though *I* use it in my productive environment. I strongly recommend that you only use it under controlled conditions and for testing and debugging. The default skin "LCARS" displays the signal strengths and qualities of all devices in its main menu. For devices that have an stb0899 frontend chip (like the TT-budget S2-3200) retrieving this information from the driver is rather slow, which results in a sluggish response to user input in the main menu. To speed this up you may want to apply the patches from ftp://ftp.tvdr.de/vdr/Developer/Driver-Patches to the LinuxDVB driver source. The changes since version 1.7.30: - If regenerating an index file fails and no data is written to the file, VDR now reports this error and removes the empty index file. - The setup parameter "Recording/Instant rec. time (min)" can now be set to '0', which means to record only the currently running event (based on a patch from Matti Lehtimäki). - Decreased the ring buffer put/get trigger sizes from 1/3 to 1/10. - The script given to VDR with the '-r' option is now also called whenever a recording is deleted (thanks to Alexander Wenzel). - Improved detecting frames in MPEG 4 video (reported by Andrey Pridvorov). - cPatPmtParser::ParsePmt() now also recognizes stream type 0x81 as "AC3", so that recordings that have been converted from the old PES format to TS can be played (suggested by Jens Vogel). - Fixed a leftover frame counter in the LCARS skin's replay display after jumping to an editing mark and resuming replay. - The new class cIoThrottle is used to allow I/O intense threads to temporarily suspend their activities in case buffers run full (suggested by Torsten Lang). Currently the cutter thread is suspended if the TS or Recorder buffer use more than 50% of their capacity. Plugin authors may want to participate in this mechanism if they use intense background I/O. - Increased the size of the TS buffer to 5MB and that of the Recorder buffer to 20MB to better handle HD recordings (suggested by Torsten Lang). - Moved cleaning up the EPG data and writing the epg.data file into a separate thread to avoid sluggish response to user input on slow systems (based on a patch from Sören Moch). - Fixed sorting folders before recordings in case of UTF-8 (thanks to Sören Moch). - Reactivated stripping control characters from EPG texts and adapted it to UTF-8. - Added missing decrementing of 'len' in libsi/si.c's String::decodeText() functions. - When checking whether a video directory is empty, file names that start with a dot ('.') are no longer automatically ignored and implicitly removed if the directory contains no other files. Instead, RemoveEmptyDirectories() now has an additional parameter that can be given a list of files that shall be ignored when considering whether a directory is empty. This allows users to continue to use files such as ".keep" to prevent a directory from being deleted when it is empty. Currently the only file name that is ignored is ".sort". Have fun! Klaus

[PATCH] vdr-1.7.31 & small improvement for last viewed recording

Hi, attached is a small patch which I find very useful. It extends the (Re)PlayButton. If no last viewed recording was set (mostly after restart of vdr) and you press the Play Button all Recordings will be shown. Would be nice, if it find's a way into the main vdr. BR, Alex

Changing recording name before starting

Hi I have been trying to figure out a way to change the name of the recording BEFORE the recording starts. This might sound odd but in finland a naming system has been adopted where the name includes the rating. As an example Alcatraz (7) which would mean it forbidden under 7 years old. If another episode is Alcatraz (12) and another is Alcatraz (S) you find the recordings being in wrong order in the timeline. So what I would like to do is to strip the ending of the names. I created a very simple script to changes the name when the recording ends using recording hooks but seems that if the recording stops for any reason and then starts again there will be problems. Then i thought I should change the name before the actual recording starts but I was not sure if it could be done with recording hooks. Is this possible and if then any pointers would be appreciated? \\Kartsa

VDR on Raspberry Pi

Hi, Now that Raspberry Pis are quite common, cheap (~£25) and easily acquired (I received my order within 2 days from Farnell) has anyone considered whether it might be feasible to put together an output plugin for VDR for it? It is now possible to play MPEG-2 (with a codec license costing £2.40) as well as 1080p H.264 with hardware acceleration. There is work on VOMP (previously on Hauppauge MediaMVP) to work as a VDR client on the Pi and as far as I can see quite a lot of progress has been made. I'm wondering whether it would be possible to run VDR with HDMI video / audio output on one of these too and given the work done so far on VOMP and XBMC how difficult it would be to create an output plugin?
