Indeed, I'm not sure where I got the .31 :-)
This is because vdr is waiting for a lock, and it's not dxr3 specific (at least I suppose so).
Try commenting out the lines
if (!HasLock(TUNER_LOCK_TIMEOUT)) { esyslog("ERROR: device %d has no lock, can't attach receiver!", CardIndex() + 1); return false; } in device.c
This cured the problem. Now turning off the antenna amplifier does no ill effects to responsiveness of vdr.
