Hi all,
I am very interested in installing xxv since the interface looks awsome but I cant read german. I have searched the net for an English installation guide but cant find one.
Is there anyone on this list that has one to share with me?
Regards,
Anders

I had the same problem! I managed it by following just the commands in the German installation guide! Try that and see how you get on.
It was a while back that I did it but I think it was relatively straightforward, apart from needing lots of Perl module dependencies but they should be fairly straightforward to work out from the error messages when you try to run it!
;)
Cheers,
Laz

Around the start to simplify I translated the German Wiki side with Babelfish. I know it is ugly, it should however no contentwise errors be present. By any chance could a native speaker this proof-reading.

BTW : i can't adjust the protected wiki main page to set a link to XXV... maybe read this a wiki admin.
HTH, Andreas
Thanks for all advice.
I have been trying to install with commands according to the (german) Wiki. Everything starts just fine, but when trying to access the web interface or via telnet it crashes with to message in logfiles or else.
Any clues as of where to look for hints??
Thanks, Anders

Which system is used, is'nt there any usable log entry on /var/log/xxvd.log ?
glass ball mode :
We got reports, that's on SuSE9.3 the process xxvd are dead after first access over http/telnet. the used perl-libary lib-event crash uncomfortingly on SuSE 9.3. Suse build here package with incompatible debugging flags to lib-event.
A (german) discussion about that : http://www.vdr-portal.de/board/thread.php?threadid=34799
A rebuild of perl is at current, the only known solution.
It was reported that a perl package from http://www.activestate.com/ work. Or a build perl-devel from perl.com, Or build a modifyed suse-srpm... but i don't know suse, i know only that a hard system modification...
